A while ago, a friend brought to my attention that the more sophisticated technology gets, more human jobs will be replaced by machines, ultimately causing the rate of unemployment to go up. We’re not even talking about human labor intensive production line or manufacturing jobs such as those in the factories and farms. The recent surge of advancement in Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology has made it possible for accurate language translation, auto content generation, voice commands and etc.
Are content creators facing the danger of getting replaced by machines?
Automated content generators boast the ability to transform raw data into written content indistinguishable from that created by a human. It is however questionable to whether the results measures up to the claim. We round up a few limitations of computer generated content to that of a human written one.
It seems like the current level of automated content generator still lacks the human touch to allow it to replace human journalists fully. No doubt research has proved that automated content generators are descriptive, accurate and reliable in generating articles. These however, are more applicable to news reports that includes relatively large amount of statistical figures, facts and narratives.
Perhaps in the next 10 years to come, we will be seeing computer generated news articles (especially sports related articles, which are generally more factual and systematically written). But one thing for sure is that we, human writers, are safe from being replaced for now.
So as a content marketers, don’t stop writing!
